[edit]Description2011-08-19 Tylopilus peralbidus (Snell & Beardslee) Murrill 163632.jpg |
Tylopilus peralbidus (Snell & Beardslee) Murrill Image location: Franklin Parker Preserve, Chatsworth, New Jersey, USA This is the first time I collect this particular species of Tylopilus, and the best match I could get was T. peralbidus — based on the photos and description in the big bolete book (distribution north of NC has not been cofirmed). Three mature specimens growing in shade on the side of a sandy road under mature oak and pines. The stipe is very smooth, devoid of reticulation, whitish bruising brown quickly. Taste is mild. Exposed context slowly staining pinkish-brown.
