| Description |
English: The lieutenant-colonel in charge of the operation of securing the former "Red-Shirt" area of Chiang Mai had ordered his men to remain calm and smiling, and not to project a show of force to either the local population nor to the tourists on whom Chiang Mai depends on for a large part of the city's income. It was therefore that only a few men were placed at the entrances to the area with the majority of the (relatively small) force of police, army, and the local Chiang Mai militia, out of sight. |
