Description

Cortinarius armillatus (Alb. & Schwein.) Fr.

Image location: Edgewood Blue, Wells Gray region, British Columbia, Canada

At bottom of very moist gorge, under Ribes and Oplopanax understory. Both Picea and Betula were present. No odor when fresh, but unpleasantly strong fungal smell when drying; bruising brownish-reddish; spore print rich brown and copious.
