Summary

[edit]
Description

Thelephora regularis Schwein.

Image location: Jedediah Smith State Park, Del Norte Co., California, USA

These were going to be called Thelephora terrestris initially but the spores don’t appear to meet the criteria. T. terrestris has rather large spores 8-12 X 6-9 microns, that are “eliptical-angular, warted (often minutely)” These (see photo), seemed more rounded and smaller,(approx. 5 X 6.5 microns) and obviously warted or spiney.(see photo).

They were about 3 cm high and had stems up to 2.0 cm long.
Couldn’t find much detailed info on T. multipartita except that it has been reported on the west coast.

Used references: Corner, E. J. H.  1968.  A Monograph of Thelephora.  J. Cramer, Forestburgh, New York.  110p.
