| Description |
Deutsch: 04.11.2007 04808 Thammenhain (Lossatal), Thomas-Müntzer-Straße 4: Schloß (GMP: 51.420108,12.861597). Der Adelssitz, urspr. eine Wasserburg, hat einen mittelalterlichen Kern. Darüber entstand im 17. Jahrhundert ein schlichtes Herrenhaus, das man Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts aufstockte. Um 1800 wurden die Gräben und Wälle der Wasserburg eingeebnet. Thammenhain kam 1666 an die weitverzweigte Adelsfamilie von Schönberg. Unter Adolf von Schönberg erhielt der Adelssitz 1890/91 durch den Architekten Adolf Leyn aus Hannover eine Bekleidung im Stil der deutschen Neorenaissance. 1945 wurde die Familie enteignet. Der 1947 angeordnete Abbruch des Schlosses wurde durch die Übertragung des Adelssitzes an das Bistum Meißen verhindert. Auch war schon im Februar 1946 das Kinderheim St. Hedwig der Borromäerinnen aus dem schlesischen Glatz eingezogen. Nach einem Umbau betrieben die Borromäerinnen bis 2000 im Schloß ein Altersheim. Zehn Jahre nach dem Ende der DDR kehrte der 1940 geborene Dr. Rüdiger Freiherr von Schönberg mit seiner Familie in sein Elternhaus zurück. Er bewohnt das Schloß gemeinsam seiner Frau Elisabeth, einer geborenen Gräfin Schaffgotsch. Der Saal, mehrere Nebenräume und Gästezimmer werden für Festlichkeiten und Veranstaltungen vermietet.
