<a target="_blank" href="http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wielka_Synagoga_w_Piotrkowie_Trybunalskim" rel="nofollow">Wielka Synagoga w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim</a> Wielka synagoga - budowla powstała w latach 1791 -1793 we wschodniej części miasta zwanej wtedy Wielką Wsią lub Żydowskim Miastem Piotrkowem W 1679 roku Gmina żydowska w Piotrkowie otrzymała od króla Jana III Sobieskiego przywilej zezwalający na budowę bóżnicy i lokalizacja cmentarza. Pierwsza bóżnica spłonęła około 1740 roku. Wielka synagoga powstała z fundacji Mojżesza Kocyna , a jej architektem był prawdopodobnie znany żydowski architekt Dawid Friedlander. Zniszczona w latach II wojny światowej została odbudowana przez polskie służby konserwatorskie. Od 1968 roku w synagodze mieści się Biblioteka Miejska.
