Summary[edit]

Description A bugler with the Montana Army Nationa Guard plays Taps bringing to a close the Tattoo ceremony at Ft. William H.Harrison, Mt on Aug. 18th, 2006 in which the colors of the First Special Service Force were officially retired. Veterans of the The First Special Services Force, which formed at Ft Harrison, Mt. in July of 1942 as a joint force of American and Canadian Soldiers, gathered at Ft. Harrison for their 60th reunion. The First Special Service Force, trained as an elite strike force, saw action in Italy and France during the Second World War and was the precursor to today's Special Forces.
