Description |
The caption on the photograph "Front St looking south from Denny Hill" provides the wrong location. The actual location shows the view south on Front St. (now 1st Ave.) from Madison St. Seattle pioneer A.W. Piper appears on the left with his son Walter and their dog, Jim. Seattle Public Library credits this as "Peterson & Bros; Peiser, Theodore E", which presumably means a Peterson & Bros. negative printed by Peiser. And, indeed, the online record at University of Washington Libraries Special Collections' Theodore E. Peiser Photographs says exactly that for their print of this photo. Elsewhere, Seattle Public Library claims that Schmeig's Brewery was demolished 1875. |
