Title
19th century pressed metal military cap badge
Description
English: An incomplete military badge dating to the end of the 19th century (c1830-1870). The badge is manufactured from pressed sheet metal and depicts a bugle badge. It is possible that the central part of the badge would originally have had a motif that would link it to a specific regiment - this is now missing. The rear of the badge has lost its integral slider clip that would have been used to attach it to a cap. However, two loops and a crude pin have been added, possible in order for the badge to be re-used. The outer surface is heavily pitted although there are some faint traces of the original brass coloured surface.

Length: 58mm; height: 37mm; thickness: 6.3mm; weight: 8.3g
