| Description | 1978 Ford F-100 ambulance. This imported Ford F-100 cab chassis was fitted with a fibreglass ambulance body by JAKAB in Tamworth NSW. It is typical of ambulances used by the NSWAS throughout the 1970's and 1980's.This former New South Wales Ambulance Service car was one of several refitted by my father and I for use in the 1994 Australian movie "Spider and Rose" starring Ruth Cracknell and Max Cullen. This car was the main vehicle used in the movie and was sold to the movie company. Two duplicates of this car were also built. One was an exterior copy set up as a stunt car and crashed as part of the movie (the ambulance ran off the road and rolled). The third vehicle was a shell found at the wreckers that was refitted internally and mounted on a filming trailer to be used for the interior driving scenes. Dad's car yard used to sell retired ambulances and we used to supply them for TV, movies and ads when NSWAS wouldn't. Scanned from a print. |
