Summary

[edit]
Description

Red Pepper The XB Falcon was built from Sept 1973- July 1976. The XA got a facelift in 1973; the XB was introduced, it got a more pronounced nose due to the reworking of the bonnet. It also got a divided honeycomb grille, more conventional taillights and new bumpers. The 2 door Hardtop was still available and the GT got new hood scoops, the design reminiscent of the 1971-73 U.S. Mustang, the GT badges were gone and replaced by GT351 decals on the guards and boot. XB Falcons still featured in the Australian Endurance Championship, Allan Moffat had already won the James Hardie 1000 at Bathurst in a Falcon Hardtop in 1973, a DNF in 1974.

Moffats 1974 Blue Brutt 33 car was repainted in Red and Gold in time for the Sandown 250 race in 1975, sponsorship from International Harvester, (the car retired on lap 26), then changing to City Ford sponsorship in time for Bathurst, He qualified in 2nd position, but again did not finish the race. He did win in Surfers Paradise in November and continuing on the next year, won at Calder, Oran Park and Amaroo Park. On the way to the next round in Adelaide, the car and Transporter were destroyed in a fire.
