Description

The Lincoln Motor Company was originally founded in 1917 and since 1922 has been the luxury vehicle division of the American Ford Motor Company. The third generation 'slant eyed' Continental was built from 1958-60, sharing the unibody chassis and exterior of the Lincoln Premiere and Lincoln Capri. The 1958 Mark III was the first, the 1959 Mark IV saw minor restyling, the Dagmars removed from the front bumper and headlight clusters integrated into the new egg-crate grille. Another restyle in 1960 with the Mark V, flatter front bumpers (with Dagmars), on the front fenders several horizontal chrome strakes were added and another new grille. The base model Lincoln available in 1959 was the Capri, available in 4 door Sedan, 2 door Hardtop Coupe and 4 door Hardtop Sedan The mid spec Premiere was also available in 4 door Sedan, 2 door Hardtop Coupe and 4 door Hardtop Sedan
