| Description |
The Chevrolet Motor Company was formed in 1911. 1955 saw a new Chevrolet, same wheelbase, but it was longer, lower and wider with a new chassis and wrap around windshield. The 1955 Chevrolet was the start of the most popular generation of Chevrolets, the 55, 6 and 7, it had a narrow Ferrari inspired grille. Like 1954 the Chev was available in three models; The base 150; 2 and 4 door Sedans and 2 door Wagon. The mid spec 210 (chrome garnish on rear doors and onto rear quarter); 2 door Club Coupe, Hardtop Sport Coupe, Sedan, Del Ray Sedan (better interior) and Wagon, 4 door Sedan and Wagon. The top Bel Air (Bel Air script above similar chrome garnish as 210 and chrome strip on the front fender as well); 2 door Convertible, Hardtop Sport Coupe, Sedan, Nomad Hardtop Wagon, 4 door Sedan and Wagon. The C1 Corvette Sports car was also available in 1955. Chevrolets were also produced in Australia by General Motors using modified American bodies from 1926-68. Engine; 123 or 136hp 235 cu in blue flame 6 cyl or the new 162 or 180hp 265 cu in Turbo-Fire OHV V8. |
