Summary[edit]
Description1954-A033025 (3548705629).jpg |
jarchie219@gmail.com Taken from Douglas El as it turned onto the Lake st. tracks. "All that remains of the old route is the nonrevenue Paulina Connector between the Lake and Congress-Douglas Lines and an abandoned bridge over the Union Pacific (previous Chicago & NorthWestern) tracks." The abandoned bridge still shows up on Google Earth. See www.chicago-l.org/history/CTA2.html Here is the history of this stretch of track:
www.chicago-l.org/operations/lines/paulina.html
Ironically, the Pink line now runs exactly like the Douglas
line ran while the Eisenhower express-way was being built. |
