Summary[edit]

Description
English: Residential architecture on Tonti Street, post-Hurricane Katrina & Federal Flood New Orleans. THE PHOTO OF THE HOUSE AT 1949 N. TONTI ST. IN NOLA. 'A TWO-STORY HOUSE W/ RED BRICK FRONT PORCH POST/PILLARS. I LIVED NEXT DOOR @1943-5 FOR 7 YRS BEFORE I SOLD MY DOUBLE. THE HOUSE YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT STARTED AS A PLAIN 2-STORY. HOWEVER OVERTIME THE SENNET FAMILY MATRIARCH AND HUSBAND DECIDED TO TURN IT INTO A HOMESTEAD ANOTHER 2-STORY HOUSE WAS BUILT CONNECTED UPSTAIRS BY A CORRIDOR !! IN TOTAL IT EQUATED TO 4 SHOTGUN HOUSES !! UPSTAIRS ABOVE THE ORIGINAL "GRANDEE'S" RESIDED THE SON. /DAUGHTER-IN-LAW/GRAND-SON IN THE UPSTAIRS BACK HOUSE CONNECTION WAS THE DAUGHTER!!! DOWNSTAIR BELOW THE BACKHOUSE WAS SOMETIMES RENTED OUT. BY THE WAY THIS IS THE ORIGINAL HOUSE- PLAN PRACTISED BY THE AFRICANS. THE TERM SHOTGUN ORGINATED FROM THE AFRICAN TERM "JU'GUN"..!!!! ONLY THE JU'GUN EXPANDED HORIZONALY BUT W/ THE NARROW LOTS OF NOLA THE MATRIALCAL HOME EXPANDED VERTICALLY !!! A TYPE OF HOUSE CALLED "HOMESTEADS" TODAY.IS LIKE THE AFRICAN "JU'GUN"!!!! TAKE A RIDE ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF BAYOU ST. JOHN ACROSS FROM CITY PARK . AS YOU CROSS THE MIRABEAU BRIDGE TAKE A RIDE DOWN THE STREETS WHICH PARALELL THE BAYOU ...TO YOUR LEFT !! BEAUTIFUL HOMESTEADS . ALL STYLES,ORIENTAL,ETC THEY WERE MOSTLY TERRACED AND HIGH UP, SO I HOPE THEY WERE DAMANAGED! NOTE THE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ BEING MADE ON THE "KATRINA COTTAGES" AND NOT ONE MENTION OF THE ORIGINAL INSPIRATION FOR THEM !!!!! I LIVED IN THE FILMORE/OAK PARK GARDENS AREA NEAR-BY !!!! P.S. MARVIn SENNETe PROBABLY CAN BE LOCATED THROUGH THE "BACKSTREET GALLERY' IN THE TREME AREA OF THE CITY. MARVIN SENNETTE BROKE AWAY FROM THE SENNETTE clan AND got A HOUSE OF HIS OWN !! THE BACKSTREET GALLERY MAY KNOW OF HIS WHEREABOUTS BECAUSE HE WAS AN MARDI GRAS INDIAN (probably disapproved of by the older circle) AND DISPLAYED AT MANY ART GALLERIES
