General Motors was founded in 1908 by William Durant. In 1911, Durant formed a partnership with Belgian-born race-car driver, Louis Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Motor Company was born. In 1927, the AA Capitol; new radiator shell, new fenders. The 1928 AB National; longer wheelbase with a longer hood. The 1929 AC International; new grille, side moldings. Now 6 cyl. The 1930 AD Universal; windshield slanted, better brakes. The 1931 AE Independence, longer wheelbase, Standard or Deluxe The 1932 BA Confederate got a sloping windshield and visor above was removed. On either side of the hood the previous louvers were replaced by opening vents, finished in a distinctive chrome on DeLuxe models. Eight body styles were available; 2 door Coupe, Sport Coupe, Coach, Roadster, Sport Roadster and 4 door Sedan, Club Sedan and Phaeton Chevrolets, along with many other brands, were also produced in Australia by Holden Motor Body Builders from 1927-31 (and from then became General Motors Holden) Local bodies were built on an imported chassis.
