Description “First Kentucky Machine Gun Company at El Paso, Texas,” reads a hand-inscripted recto taken during a “Preparedness Day” parade held on September 21, 1916. This event was the largest of its kind in the U.S. since the end of the Civil War. June 18, 2016 is the 100th anniversary of the “Great Mobilization” order of the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico Border. (Photo courtesy, Kentucky National Guard, Frankfort KY).
