| Description |
English: A 1910 photo postcard of the Second National Bank, located on the southeast corner of Center Square. The Second National was established in 1864 by William H. Ainey, one of the predominant bankers of nineteenth-century Allentown. The bank shown in this postcard was the third building occupied by the bank at that location. In 1954, the Second National merged with the Allentown National Bank and became the First National Bank. The bank building was torn down in 1959 and remains a parking lot.
Just south of the bank on South Seventh Street is the Seventh Street entrance of H. Leh and Company, established in 1850 by Henry Leh, one of Allentown's large department stores. |
