NORMANDY, France (June 6, 2019) U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa Fleet Master Chief Derrick Walters delivers remarks during a United States Navy Memorial and Frogmen Association of Utah Beach dinner reception in Normandy, France, June 6, 2019. U.S. Service Members, partnered with 950 troops from across Europe and Canada, have converged in northwestern France to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the WWII Allied Invasion of Normandy, commonly known as D-Day. U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa/U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.
