Summary[edit]
Description1837 Daguerreotype of Huet by Daguerre.jpg |
English: Portrait believed to have been made in 1837 by Louis Daguerre. On the back is written "M. Huet 1837" as well as first letters of Daguerre's signature. If correct, this would be the oldest surviving portrait photograph of a human being.
The subject is believed to be Constant Huet (23 February 1797 - 1863), who worked at the Natural History Museum, where Daguerre made daguerreotypes in 1837.
