Description |
English: Copper alloy horse harness pendant length 42mm, width 24mm, thickness 5mm, weight 8.68g. Shield shaped, the design has been split in two, read enamel decorates the top half and gold on the lower half. There are two six pointed stars in the top half, if there was any device in the lower half this has been removed by corrosion, but there look like there may have been an animal rampant. A loop in the centre of the top edge is missing its upper half. The reverse is plain.
Heraldic description: Giles, two stars or Per fess, or possibly and animal rampant. This artefact is heavily corroded leaving a heavily pitted surface on the reverse and almost all of the lower section on the obverse. The artefact was originally gilt but most of this is missing. This artefact dates to the 14th century. |
