Pennsylvania Centennial Commission Gettysburg, Pa. May 20, 1963 Mr. Paul W. Danahy, Jr. 613 First National Bank Building Tampa, Florida Dear Mr. Danahy: Mr. Payne Williams, of the South Carolina Civil War Centennial Commission has just informed me by telephone that there is under consideration by the National Park Service a location in the Gettysburg National Military Park for a State monument to be erected by Florida. (I know you have been forwarding this project for sometime now.) Mr. Williams asked that I suggest a time when the proposed monument, or site for it, could be dedicated within the framework of the Centennial observances being held here next July 1, 2 and 3. In view of all the other programming that has already been confirmed for the period in question, the only possible time open would be on July 3 after 5:30 P.M. (Eastern Daylight Time) Inasmuch as it does not get dark here until approximately 9:00 P.M. you should be able to hold the Florida ceremony sometime between 5:30 and 8:30 P.M. Please advise me as to what decision is arrived at and who will conduct the ceremony. Cordially yours, Louis H. Simon
