Title
15th century finger ring
Description
English: An inscribed copper-alloy finger-ring, likely of 15-early 16th century date.

Description: The ring has band thin in width but with high thick borders. between the border is a slightly garbed inscription, the language of which is uncertain but appears to be either Anglo-French or Latin. All relatively unclear it appears to repeat the letters 'IVE' a number of times, occasionally with a B or a D looking letter. In total this seems to repeat 'BIVE IV DIVE' around the band twice. 'IV' is a possible if uncommon medieval Anglo-French version of the modern French 'JE' or even 'EN'. 'DIVE' could be 'DIEV' the French word for god. thus the second part of the inscription could be 'in god'. The ring is heavily patinated and grey colour with slight green tinge.

Measurements: 21.27mm in diameter, 4.98mm wide (1.19mm thick band) and 2.14g in weight.
