(active in the 1490s) Cassianus Corvina (one of the pages) 1498 Illumination on parchment Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris The library of Matthias, King of Hungary was seized by the Turks in 1526 and brought to Constantinople. The later scattered library became a legend of the humanists. Presently the number of the known volumes (corvinas) is above 200. Originally the library had about 1000 volumes.
