Anomalous X-ray pulsar (AXP)

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Artisit's impression of an anomalous X-ray pulsar. AXP pulsars are types of neutron stars, first detected during the 1970s using the Uhuru X-ray satellite. They are isolated and highly magnetized neutron stars, currently very few have been discovered - 12 AXPs and 2 candidates have been confirmed since 2017.
