Title
155 Stirrup Mount 5
Description
English: Cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams Class A, Type 10B. The mount depicts a beast with a long neck coiled into an S shape and entwined with tendrils. The mount is openwork, and complete apart from a broken flange. A very nice example of Urnes-style decoration on a Class A, type 10B stirrup-strap mount. The seven published examples of type 10B mounts in Williams 1997 are all relatively crude, but there is one other on the PAS database (SF-3F8005) of comparable high quality although slightly different design. The other two 10B mounts on the database, SF-7DDC25 and LVPL939, are of rather lower quality.
