Description

Laagdakker HTM 164 (1908).

In 1908 bouwde de firma Werkspoor uit Amsterdam de serie 151-168 voor de N.V. Haagsche Tramweg-Maatschappij (HTM). Deze serie was een vervolg op de serie 21-150 die tussen 1905 en 1907 werd aangeschaft. Het grote verschil was echter het lagere dak van de serie 151-168. Mede hierdoor waren de motorrijtuigen uitermate geschikt om dienst te doen op de toenmalige lijnen 3 en 4. Deze lijnen gingen namelijk door het Binnenhof. Om het Binnenhof te bereiken moesten de trams onder de smalle poortjes door. De wagens kregen dan ook al snel de bijnaam 'Laagdakker'. Bron: nmld.locaalspoor.nl/nl/object/2372
