Deutsch: Das frühere Gemälde ist eine breitrechteckige Tafel mit drei Bildfeldern zur Bedeutung des Opfers Christi.

Links mit Jerusalem im Hintergrund wird Christus dem Hohenpriester Kaiphas vorgeführt.
In der Mitte ist Christus am Kreuz ist mit einem übergroßen Leib dargestellt. Auf der guten Seite links, zu der Christus sein Haupt neigt, steht Maria mit den frommen Frauen und Johannes. Auf der rechten Seite, von der Christus sich abwendet, steht der römische Hauptmann mit seinen Soldaten und Zuschauern. Darüber auf einer Art Brüstung erscheint links ein Engel mit Ecclesia, der christlichen Kirche, die mit einem Kelch das Blut aus der Seitenwunde Christi auffängt als Sakrament. Auf der rechten Seite vertreibt ein Engel die Synagoge, die Personifikation des Alten Testaments und des Judentums. Als Zeichen des Verlustes ihrer Herrschaft verliert die Synagoge ihre Krone. Eine dritte Sphäre mit den Chören der Engel öffnet sich über dem Querbalken des Kreuzes.

Rechts sind Maria und ihre Begleiterinnen vor der leeren Grabhöhle mit dem zurückgelassenen Grablinnen und einem Engel. Rechts unten schlafen die römischen Grabwächter.
