Description U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Shane Ramos, an aviation maintenance technician loadmaster, communicates with pilots before launching an HC-130H Hercules aircraft in Barrow, Alaska, June 28, 2012. Coast Guardsmen from Air Station Kodiak flew daily missions to Barrow in preparation for a Coast Guard deployment to Arctic Shield, a temporary air station operating in the Arctic Ocean during the summer to increase search and rescue response times in the region.
