JPEG file comment | MINIATURIST, German
(active around 1020 in Cologne) Hitda Codex c. 1020 Illumination Hessische Landesbibliothek, Darmstadt The Life of Christ constitutes the main subject illustrated in medieval codices. An exemplary model of the successful organization of text sequence and illustrative picture is the codex of the Abbes Hitda of Meschede, known as the Hitda Codex. It was produced around the year 1020 in an Ottonian scriptorium in Cologne. The picture shows a folio with The Raising of the Young Man of Nain.
