Description

Think this is a jewellery shop, next door to the ice cream shop. On Dam Street in Lichfield.

Dr Samuel Johnson had his Infant School English education in a building on this site in 1714 (current building dates to 1800).

At <a href="http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-382635-10-10a-and-10b-lichfield" rel="noreferrer nofollow">10, 10a and 10b Dam Street</a>, Grade II listed.

   Two houses, now shops. Late C18. Brick; tile roof with brick
   stack. 2 storeys; 2-window range. Top modillioned brick
   cornice. Segmental-headed entrances to ends have half-glazed
   doors. Large and small segmental-headed windows to ground
   floor have brick sills and small-paned casements with opening
   panes; windows to 1st floor have brick sills and small-paned
   casements with iron opening casements. Stack to front of
   ridge. Right return to Quonians Lane is a later rebuild; 2
   segmental-headed windows. Plaque to front records the building
   as Ann Oliver's dame school, where Dr Samuel Johnson received
   his first schooling, though the claim is disputed.
