Summary[edit]

Description
English: Created by Willie Taylor

The canvas is a cartoon representation of a small protein structure which is composed of alpha helices (pink) either side of a central beta sheet (yellow arrows). The protein is the chemotaxis Y protein which is commonly used to test calculations both in protein design, structure prediction

and molecular dynamics. In the background are equations and fragments of computer code used in these calculations. The principal equations at the top are Newton's equation of motion (right) and Gibb's equation for free-energy (left). Other equations are taken from lab publications and the (C++) code is from a coarse-grained simulation program (also used to simulate cell motion). The text is swimming in a fog of coffee (literally) to represent the typical state of mind of those who have written it.
