polden hill type roam brooch
Description
English: Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends, Transitional Type 2), cf. Mackreth 2011, Type 2.b2, Plate 45, pg. 71. It is 48mm long, 7mm wide and 5mm thick. The brooch consists of semi circular wings which are decorated with three raised bands which have a row of short incised lines for decoration. The wings contain a spring of 14 coils which is missing its pin. The bow is triangular in section and has two raised ridge srunning its length. The catch-plate is partially present and is decorated with an incised cross hatching.
