[edit]Description042 Baildon Scarecrows 30 September 2023 (324a).JPG |
A scarecrow exhibit at Baildon Scarecrow Festival, 2023, in Baildon, West Yorkshire, England. It was a one-day festival and in the afternoon there was light rain. There were scarecrow festivals in the town for some years, but this is the first scarecrow festival in Baildon after a 5-year hiatus. Inhabitants of the town are invited to create a scarecrow or other figure or effigy inspired by a theme, this year's theme being All Things Royal. The exhibits are non-commercial artworks, made to the inhabitants' own designs, and displayed in front of buildings and in public spaces in the town. The scarecrow trail attracts tourists, who pay a small sum for the trail guide in aid of Zarach, a charity which assists children living in poverty. The exhibits are dismantled soon after the festival. The tableau of Queen bee, kingfisher and monarch butterfly is by Brackenhall Countryside Centre. |
