Summary[edit]

  • Tabard: On a scarlet and blue field, parted in a silhouette of the Alamo with scarlet architectural details, encompassed by gold fringe at the sides and bottom; below a white faceted star, a flint Indian arrowhead of French horizon blue with an olive drab block “T,” beneath a scroll of the same arching up and doubled dark blue bearing the inscription “THIRTY-SIXTH INFANTRY DIVISION BAND” in white letters, along the bottom center a spray of palms in olive drab between the streamers Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army) embroidered “EUROPEAN THEATER” and the French Croix de Guerre streamer embroidered “VOSGES.”

Symbolism[edit]

  • The flint Indian arrowhead surmounted by the letter “T” is the unit’s shoulder sleeve insignia and distinctive unit insignia, worn by the soldiers of the 36th Infantry Division during European Operations in World War II.
  • The white star combined with the scarlet and the blue background and scrolls represents the Texas state flag, the unit’s home state.
