Title
03/628 Medieval inscribed buckle plate
Description
English: A simple slightly tapering buckle plate with a single copper alloy rivet at the attachment end. The bar of the buckle frame survives. The upper surface of the plate is divided lengthwise into three areas. The central strip is plain; the two outer strips each contain three debased letter forms. These appear to read AMA but could be read as, or intended to be, AVE.
