Title
01B304. Copper alloy T-shape Roman brooch.
Description
English: Copper alloy T- shape brooch. Incomplete. Short, tubular wings to house the copper alloy axis bar for a hinged pin (the head of which is still attached). There is a notch between the wings at the back to allow the pin to articulate on the bar. There is a shallow groove runnung along the top of the wings and another at the back. The D- sectioned bow is set forward of the wings. The head of the bow is decorated with a single, circular sectioned projection at the mid point from the sides. The projection appears to be a separately applied component (a rivet) which has been set into a small circular hole. The bow tapers gently to the break point. The head and bow are decorated with a central, broad ridge flanked by two wide grooves. 1st to 2nd century.
