Description
Deutsch: Peter Sebald (Die Deutsche Kolonie Togo 1884-1914, S. 57) identifiziert die fünf Kolonialbeamten (von links nach rechts) als Friedrich Rigler (1864—1930), Adolf von Seefried (1873—1914), August Köhler (1858—1902), Valentin von Massow (1864—1899) und Hermann Kersting (1863—1937). Die Afrikaner auf dem Bild bleiben wie so häufig in der kolonialen Geschichtsschreibung namenlos.
English: Peter Sebald (Die Deutsche Kolonie Togo 1884-1914, S. 57) identifies the five officers, from left to right: Friedrich Rigler (1864—1930), Adolf von Seefried (1873—1914), August Köhler (1858—1902), Valentin von Massow (1864—1899), and Hermann Kersting (1863—1937). The Africans in the picture remain nameless, as so often in colonial historiography.
