Description
Deutsch: Einweihung des 1. Kriegerdenkmals für Gefallene des Ersten Weltkrieges in Saalfeld/Saale am 27. November 1916. Der Standort befand sich in dem Gehölz Am Steiger, unterhalb der Hinteren Gartenkuppe. Geehrt wurden die Gefallenen vom Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 82. Im Bild legt der Batallionskommandeur Major Meier den von Herzog Bernhard gespendeten Kranz am Denkmal nieder. Das Denkmal wurde nach einem Entwurf von Oberleutnant Sänger von Soldaten des Bataillons erbaut, es hat ein Gewicht von 4800 Zentnern. Die Tafel enthält folgende Angaben:Den im Weltkrieg gefallenen Kameraden zum Gedächtnis. Das Ersatzbataillon Res.-Inf.-Regts.-Nr 82. Erhaben und Ehrenvoll ist es für das Vaterland zu sterben.
