中文（臺灣）：阿里山森林鐵路，是臺灣少數具有比較完整的人文與自然系統的複合性文化資產，更是典型的文化景觀範例。其鐵路技術的特殊性是文化景觀重要的無形文化資產，而以區域性發展來看，阿里山林業暨鐵道文化景觀與其鐵路建築、機具、相關的管理制度、維護技術、自然環境條件、族群、產業發展的歷史文化、集體知識及社會發展息息相關，是透過產業發展來影響自然環境與人文發展的文化景觀，完整呈現線性人文地理及豐富產業文化。
