Description
日本語: 三菱UFJ銀行貨幣資料館に展示されてた日本最初の西洋式紙幣「明治通宝札」。三菱UFJ銀行貨幣資料館の説明によると、1872年(明治5年)日本政府は太政官札の偽造が多くなったためやむなくこの新紙幣を発行し、太政官札の回収を行ったとのこと。また当時の日本は紙幣の印刷技術がなかったため、ドイツで地模様を印刷したとのこと。
English: Meiji-Tsuho is the first Western-style paper currency in Japan. This currency was issued in 1872. Since Japan at that time did not have banknote printing technology, These banknote's ground patterns were printed in Germany.
