常乐寺塔
常乐寺塔位于书林街中段,始建于南诏劝丰祐时期(823-859年),原系常乐寺(又名东寺)内佛塔,俗称东寺塔。清道光十三年(公元1833年)毁于地震,清光绪九年(公元1883年),云贵总督芩毓英率士民按原貌重建,重建时位置稍有东移。
塔平面呈正方形,十三级空心密檐式塔砖,通高40.57米,由塔基、塔身和塔刹三部分构成。塔身第一级较高,每面宽7.61米,南面设券门。第二级以上塔面渐宽,至第八级面最宽,往上则逐渐收分,使塔外轮廓呈曲线形。各层间距较短并均设有券洞佛龛、洞龛两边饰浮雕小塔。用青砖层叠涩出檐,外檐四角反翘。塔刹除宝顶外四角各置一大鹏金翅鸟(俗称金鸡)。
东寺塔是昆明地区现存的历史悠久,具有唐代风格的古建筑,具有很高的历史、科学、艺术价值。1983年公布为云南省文物保护单位。2006年5月公布为全国重点文物保护单位。
保护范围:塔四周基座下空的东面、南面、北面3米至20米以内以房屋格局定线,西南以临街路沿定线。
建设控制地带:东面市委西围墙止;南面市委统战部西大门北围墙至书林街对面一线;西面云南人民出版社宿舍巷口至市委西大门一线书林街对面路沿下止:北面云南人民出版社宿舍巷口经省防疫站宿舍至市委西围墙一线屋沿下止。
