Description
中文（臺灣）：因地理條件限制，北方澳土壤貧脊，山區幾乎沒有幾棵大樹，只有一些草本植物生長，而且土層不厚、石頭又多，所以蓄水性差，涵水量不足，即使有一些石縫會滲出淡水，但水量少之又少，尤其逢遇乾旱期，水源更是短缺。因此缺水問題，讓北方澳居民在生活上產生極大的不便，也造成很大的困擾。台灣光復初期，經濟起飛，漁獲豐富，魚價又好，北方澳漁民一天的收入，往往比公務員半年薪水還多，家家有積蓄，戶戶有餘糧。錢是不缺，但水依舊很匱乏，村裡幾口水井，不僅水量小，還要連夜排隊一滴滴地等，要等裝滿一桶水是多麼奢求的一件事。但日常生活、飲用、洗衣、洗菜、沐浴，樣樣需要水，一盆水，洗過菜後洗臉，洗過臉後洗澡，真正是所謂「省吃儉用」了。不過，出了北方澳，男人大吃大喝，出手闊綽，女人們逛街購物，花錢可是大方。錢，明天再賺就有；水，卻不能不省，因為比起排隊挑水的辛苦，出海捕魚賺錢卻容易得多，因此地方流傳一句話「北方澳缺水不缺錢」。
