Description
English: Israel, Jerusalem, Jaffa Rd, on Mahane Yehuda Police Station. It is an old 2-story stone building with a pair of sculpted lions guarding the entrance. in the 19th century it was the home of the British consul in Jerusalem. It became a police station during the British Mandate. Jerusalem is also known as "Ariel" (Lion of God) and belongs to the tribe of Judah that his symbol is the lion. The lion is a constant symbol in Jerusalem. In photography, one of the pair of lions at the entrance of the residence of the british consul, sculpted by Simcha Janower, a Jerusalem artist of the 19TH century.
