Description

English: During 2007, the speleologists of the Chernivtsi speleological club "Troglodyt" and the Kostryzhiv speleological and tourist club "Cascade" carried out a complete mapping of the labyrinthine cave of Skitska. Every nook and cranny of the cave was measured. Skytska Cave, another name of Gostri Govda - geological monument of nature of local importance "Skytska Cave"

The cave is located in the Podilska-Bukovyna karst region, in the central part of the Dniester Canyon, at the top of the right slope of the Dniester River valley. The entrance to the cave is located in the southeastern part of the territory of the village of Kostryzhivka, Chernivtsi district, Chernivtsi region, half a kilometer from the village of Zvinyachyn Opposite, across the Dniester, is the town of Zalishchyki, Ternopil region. Entrance coordinates: 48.635032°, 25.721778°. The total length of the cave is 3590 m, the area is 2561 m2, the volume is 5442 m3. The cave is horizontal, labyrinth-type, in some places it is placed in two tiers.

Access to the first passages of the cave, up to 100 meters long, appeared in the 1960s during the gypsum quarry development in the Skytskyi quarry. The labyrinths of the cave were gradually absorbed during the mining of gypsum until the quarry was closed. Thanks to the efforts of the Kostryzhiv speleological and tourist club "Cascade" organized by Pyotr Ploschanskyi, it was possible to clean the silted cracks, and the cave reached its current dimensions
