Summary

[edit]
Description
English: There is resonator mirror of Er ZBLAN fiber laser, mounted on moving platform. Green radiation coming from the fiber emerges due to a so-called upconversion process of IR radiation with wavelength 2.8 micrometers, that occurs inside of the fiber. Moving platform allows to shift mirror with precision in 1 micron, that is important for accurate setting of a laser resonator. In slit between two metal plates, that is used to remove heat, one can see part of the fiber. The idea of this laser can be described in such a way: radiation with short wavelength (green light - approximately 550 nm) is generated, provided that pumping occurs by means of a long-wave radiation (IR - 2800 nm, it can't be seen by human eye).
