Description
Русский: Здание Андреевского рынка представляет собой характерный для XVIII века образец торговых рядов. Аналогичные ему гостиные

дворы строились в конце XVIII — начале XIX веков в большинстве русских провинциальных городов.

Корпуса рынка включают ряд одинаковых, изолированных друг от друга торговых помещений. Каждая из лавок имела выход во внутренний двор, внутреннюю лестницу на второй этаж и сообщалась с опоясывающей все здание наружной открытой галереей.

Аркаде нижнего этажа соответствуют на фасаде арки, обрамляющие окна второго этажа. Во втором этаже, по-видимому, также была открытая галерея. Очень простое по планировке и архитектурной обработке здание рынка сохранило в основном свой первоначальный внешний облик. Это не только интересный памятник русской архитектуры конца XVIII века, но и один из комплексов, определяющих своеобразный характер застройки старейших кварталов Васильевского острова, Внутренние помещения первого и второго этажей неоднократно перестраивались; первоначально они были перекрыты сводами, сохранившимися ныне лишь в обходной галерее, идущей вдоль улиц.

Собор во имя святого Андрея Первозванного построен в 1780 г. по проекту архитектора А.Ф.Виста.
