Bio-TWINS – biological tissues integrated wafer system for drug testing

Description
English: Bio-TWINS (biological tissues wafer integrated system) is a body-on-a-chip microfluidic system consisting of interconnected channels and reaction chambers for growing living tissues and cells for pharmaceutical testing. In the future, such systems will fully imitate the functioning of a living organism and the communication of key organs with each other. For the preparation and delivery of nutrient media and accurate dosing of drugs to each “organ” (heart, brain, liver, lungs, pancreas, kidneys, etc.), a system of channels with elements of a lab-on-a-chip is connected. The body-on-a-chip was created from silicon and glass using the own FMN Laboratory technology.
Русский: Bio-TWINS (biological tissues wafer integrated system) – микрофлюидная система организма-на-чипе, состоящая из взаимосвязанных каналов и реакционных камер для выращивания живых тканей и клеток. В перспективе, подобные системы смогут полностью имитировать функционирование живого организма и взаимодействие ключевых органов друг с другом с целью моделирования фармакокинетики и фармакодинамики новых лекарственных препаратов. Для подготовки и доставки питательных сред и точного дозирования действующих веществ к каждому «органу» (сердце, мозг, печень, легкие и проч.) подведена система каналов с элементами лабораторий-на-чипе. Организм-на-чипе создан из кремния и стекла по собственной технологии НОЦ ФМН.
