Summary[edit]

Description
English: 'The Flowering of the Lort Burn', Leazes Park. An art work by Tom Grimsey, set into the ground and across the paths, that represents the underground route of the Lort Burn. Its alternative name,'Florid Burn' here has the now obsolete meaning: 'abounding in, or covered with flowers'. The line represented here is the burn, flowing to cross Richardson Road on its journey towards the River Tyne. The burn is the source of water for the nearby Leazes Park Lake, and is followed by a similar line of panels on the far side of the lake 434592, along with a water splash sculpture at its source 434598. On the other side of Richardson Road, is the building housing the Children's Wards of the Royal Victoria Infirmary.
