Deutsch: Beim ‚Open Day‘am 24.02. versammelten sich die Kollegen der NASA, das DLR und viele lokale Wissenschaftler, Studenten und Schüler auf dem gabunischen Flughafen in Libreville.
Wissenschaftler des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) fliegen vom 01. bis zum 29. Februar im zentralafrikanischen Gabun zahlreiche Messflüge, um den Zustand des Regenwaldes zu bestimmen. Dabei setzen sie hochmoderne Radartechnologie ein. Die gewonnenen Daten helfen dabei, Klimamodelle zu verbessern und die Erderwärmung besser zu verstehen. Die Kampagne wird in Kooperation mit der europäischen (ESA), der französischen (ONERA), der gabunischen (AGEOS) und dem amerikanischen Raumfahrtzentrum (NASA) durchgeführt. English: At the 'Open Day' on February 24th. Colleagues from NASA, DLR and many local scientists, students and schoolchildren gathered at the Gabonese airport in Libreville. Scientists from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) are flying numerous measurement flights in Gabon, Central Africa, from February 1st to 29th to determine the condition of the rainforest. They use state-of-the-art radar technology. The data obtained helps to improve climate models and better understand global warming. The campaign is carried out in cooperation with the European (ESA), the French (ONERA), the Gabonese (AGEOS) and the American Space Center (NASA). |
